Whenever I share with people that I've been to Iceland (twice), most of the time I receive a look of shock on their faces as if they don't believe me. What is it about Iceland that has people so baffled? Is it because Iceland may not be at the top of everyone's travel bucketlist due to being a non-hot spot? Or, that it's over 3,000 miles from my home destination? Or, because when you think of Iceland you think of ice glaciers and the cold? Or, does it have anything to do with the fact that I'm a person of color who has expressed an interest in traveling to a European country such as Iceland and people may not expect minorities to travel there? I personally enjoy exploring natural landscapes and the great outdoors just like the next person. Well regardless of the reasons and shocked facial expressions received, I did visit and I truly enjoyed all that I experienced while there. (READ MORE)
